Countries belonging to the underdeveloped and developing world frequently experience the problem of rampant corruption. Due to the misuse of state power for personal interests, the development of the state is severely hindered. The positions within the government are coveted as a means of forwarding personal interests. Within the position, those elected use the government resources in promoting their agendas of personal development. State funds and taxes are embezzled by politicians, state forces are utilized as private armies, and inequality is fostered in order to maintain hold of the polity. Those belonging within the government are getting richer, while the people are suffering the consequences. These dire situations should never be tolerated.
